Lift 37: 4-Person: Connecting the Cottage and the Boathouse

Model: 4-Person (750-pound capacity)
Track: 205' at 32°
Area: Lake of Bays
Year: 2011

Installing the lift has made it much easier to access the boathouse and the water, and therefore enabled us to feel more connected to the lake. We make use of our waterfront much more now that we have a lift. And the best thing, if we forget to bring something down, taking the lift up is much easier than walking up 175 stairs!”

“Installing the lift has dramatically widened the demographic of people likely to purchase the cottage. Now people with small children would consider it, as would people with elderly relatives, and even people who just don’t enjoy waking up and down stairs to get to the waterfront would consider this purchase.

“We always viewed it as an investment in our property; one which we will see full return if we ever decide to sell.

The owners had recently purchased this cottage as a family retreat, a special place for their extended families to be together. The lift lets everyone move freely between the cottage and their lakeside cabana.

The upper station runs off the far side of the wrap-around deck. It’s almost completely hidden yet right there. After the lift was in Lovegrove Construction added the upper station platform and we came back to install the button boxes inside the tall fence post.

The lift close is to the ground and surprisingly unobtrusive. It’s way way way easier than using the avalanche of stairs that run down the other side of the property.

When in the bottom station the car is hidden away at the back of the dock and nestles in beside a cedar tree on the far side.

The side walls on this car are slightly different from our standard design, the wooden slats are narrower and the spaces between them wider for an airier, less visible car and a better view of the forest
