When I first walked up and down the stairs, looking for the best place to locate the the lift, I wondered how we could possibly build it without damaging the existing aesthetic that was present in every detail. We worked with the owner and with Steven and Scott at Vision Contracting to choose the station locations, and therefore the track line, that integrated those stations into the landscape and the buildings. We continued to work with Steven and Scott throughout the build; while we were building the track and installing the machinery and car, Vision was building the access platforms and railings. We all finished at the same time. It turned out great.
The upper station was located in the far corner of the main level cottage deck. We set the track to preserve the pathway running off to the left. The cottage is behind the photographer..
The lift connects the main level of the cottage to the rooftop level of the boathouse.
The lower station blends beautifully into the boathouse. The owner designed the cladding on the track to hide its' industrial nature and Vision Contracting built it.
Take your pick, stairs or lift.
The track hardly intrudes into the natural amphitheater formed by a rock wall and the boathouse deck, an amphitheater that looks like is could be a scene at a natural history museum. The PARK button moves the car up the track 15’ where its hidden but handy.
